Traditional and modern architecture…
The variety of traditional and modern architecture with typical Puglian accents generates a positive tension and is never dull.
When the directors of Puglia Property Development asked my opinion of the plan for an exclusive residential park in Puglia, I was immediately gripped by the idea. I am from the Netherlands, but have lived and worked as an architect in Italy for many years, although I was not familiar with this particular region. I found the plan to design the homes individually and base the architecture on the characteristic architecture of Puglia fascinating. I therefore took up the invitation to explore the area, the region and Puglian architecture before coming to a decision.
During this exploration, I fell in love with the landscape and the typical Puglian architecture, which has undergone a unique development through the centuries. It is very different from that in other parts of Italy. I was therefore particularly motivated, passionate even, about accepting the commission.
Parco di Mileto breaks new ground. The variety of traditional and modern architecture, with typical Puglian accents, results in a positive tension and is never dull. It takes the form of a village, with an old and a young soul, united in perfect harmony. The residents will have the impression that the park and the homes have always been there. My philosophy is that comfort of living is more important indoors than outdoors. I therefore design my homes ‘from the inside out’. These homes are compact, functional, original and special. The residents are central to all aspects of the designs. The space has been used to the max, but without concessions in terms of comfort, atmosphere and sustainability.
